The Ups and Downs of the Grammys dress code

So this year the CBS sent out a memo to all Grammy attendees stating they wouldn't tolerate any bare skin-- saying "Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack." (TMZ source)

There was so much under, side, over boobage going on that it was ridiculous. I'm sure the executives for CBS lost their minds when they saw NO ONE abided by the dress code they ATTEMPTED to set forth. My guess is that the memo went out a little too late for those who'd already had their dress picked out. I'm sure they weren't about to have their handlers roam the earth to find another dress for them. At least they put forth an effort and this was the most clothed any of them has ever been. Per a CBS rep, " "All wardrobe selections passed our standards, if only barely." (TMZ source)

Welp, so is the life of a celebrity. There were a lot of hits and tons of misses. Here's a look at a couple of looks...

HITS
Kelly Rowland in Georges Chakra Couture

Katy Perry in Gucci
Now this was my 1st Best Dressed celebrity of the night. I LOOOOOOOOOOVED this look on Katy and thought she looked simply gorgeous in this mint green gown but there were others who thought differently. From the above picture, you can clearly see what the runway model looked like in this dress vs Katy. The slit isn't as showing and huge as it is on the buxom Perry. Here's just a taste of the bad press this dress brought Katy- "But what a fashion fail statement she made tonight! Katy Perry’s Gucci Green dress wasn’t unpleasant by itself, it just didn’t do her body any justice and was in no circumstance eye – pleasing. Outside the boudoir or the privacy of one’s home."( Style Frizz source) I'm still trying to find out how she got her girls to stay up at attention.

Adele in Valentino
Now most people hated Adele's dress but I kind of liked it. I may not have paired it the way she did but all in all it was a cute dress. I'm coo coo for coco puffs anyway, so that would fit right in to my style. Get some bohemian hair and I'm "ret to go". I keep telling people Adele is really a 47 year old mum of 3- there's no way she's only 22.

Beyonce in Osman Yousefzada
I've checked out this designer's work and he has a lot of great Ready to Wear pieces. This outfit was a far cry from what we're used to seeing Mrs Carter in. I liked it but there were some who didn't simply b/c it was a pants suit (jumper) worn by the "Give me body" singer.
Solange Knowles in Ralph & Russo
I'm in love with this hair. Solange can do NO wrong lately.

Janelle Monae in a Against Nature vest and shirt, a Moschino jacket, a Ralph Lauren hat, and carrying a Jimmy Choo clutch.
I so love her style and the reason behind why she dresses this way. She's such the "cool cat". Nice to see her in sandals instead of her regular oxford flat.
 Rihanna in Azzedine Alaia
There was much talk that Rihanna's Grammy dress was see thru and that she "peek a boo'd" a couple of people with her nipples. I was fearful for her during her performance tribute to Bob Marley. I'd forgotten she had that tattoo underneath her breasts and kept thinking I was seeing under boobage. I was sure they were gonna pull the plug and it would be "nipple gate" all over again just like Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl.

Taylor Swift in Roberto Cavalli
I liked her performance outfit. Hmmm, maybe I'll make a penguin tail blazer like this.
MISSES
 Nicole Kidman in Vera Wang
Now in my opinion, I thought this dress washed her out. The hair was limp and she's as pale as can be. I wasn't impressed with this look on her but others seemed to like it and put her on the Best Dressed list. In the words of the "Men on Film" fellas, HATED IT!!

Alicia Keys in Azzedine Alaia
I wasn't fond of this dress on A. Keys. Maybe because of the city slicker hairstyle. I kind of wished she'd worn it blown out in the bob with a side part-she would've been rocking then. This underboobage didn't help her either during her performance. I felt she channeled a little Sheila E with that number (since she was behind the drums and not her normal piano) I kind of enjoyed that fact.

 Ashante in Tony Ward Couture
She just looks like she's trying too hard. Maybe she was looking to make a statement…Unfortunately, it was just the wrong one to make (Perez Hilton quoted source)

Estelle in Genelle Brooks x Love Collins
Now I'm a little torn with Estelle's look. On one hand it's cute but on the other it's a bomb. What do you guys think?

Jennifer Lopez in Anthony Vaccarello
Now here's another outfit I was torn with. I liked it and disliked it all in one and others followed suit. She did however show the world that her thighs are toned and not to be messed with. All night this was her stance and I'm not sure she even knew she was posing the whole time. Let that leg go limp girl- as it stayed straight the whole night. They did manage to get a great shot of her sitting with it crossed. All in all, I'm still torn :(.

 Florence Welch in Givenchy
She looks like a reptile to me in this dress.

Kimbra in Jaime Lee
Can you say, Tinkerbell?

THE MEN

 Neyo

Nas

Drake
There was something about this look that rubbed me the WRONG way. It looks a little disheveled- possibly the pant. Or could it be the jacket? Is it ill-fitting? I can't quite put my hand on it but I don't like it.

Justin Timberlake in Lanvin
I love Justin and all but I wasn't a fan of this jacket pattern.

There were tons and tons of more hits and misses but hey, I don't have time to show everything.

Hope you guys enjoyed the looks!!

DRUMROLL PLEASE!!!!!

Again, I'd like to thank everyone who participated in this weekends contest. I had a great time hosting it and I know everyone's been on pins and needles awaiting the results. Welp, in between my sewing last night, I decided to tally up the contestants and check to see who completed everything. I couldn't stress this enough when I said to make sure I could see the share on your page (because out of all the shares, there were 6 I couldn't see). But I asked a random person to pick a # from 1-20 and they chose 11. From there I checked my notes to see who's email/name that was and I chuckled. It never fails that the winner is always someone I'm talking back and forth to about not seeing the info on their page. After that winner was chosen, I don't know, I must have been in such a good mood, that I asked them to pick another #, in which they chose 4. The reason I asked for them to choose again was because I thought "how great would it be that there were (2) winners??" One would get the big pocket skirt and the other the skirt w/ or w/o the bow, since I couldn't decide on which one to do

Now for your winners..

KIA CHAMBLISS
EBONY HALTY

Both of these ladies have been contacted and are enthused about their winning. Congrats ladies and thank you to everyone who participated!!! Like I said yesterday, I hope you'll want to stay connected with my pages because of what I do and not for the sake of the contests :). I like doing these Giveaways and think I'll do one every month- that is if I'm not too busy.

Here are the looks these ladies won:

Kia Chambliss
(Again, you can choose to have the skirt w/ or w/o the bow- your choice)

Ebony Halty

The only thing I ask of you ladies is that you send me a picture of you in the skirts.

On a totally different note, I am presently booked and will not be taking any new projects until after February. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Mazol Tov and all that good stuff!!!

YAY!!! HE'S HERE.. HE'S FINALLY HERE!!! My sister just gave birth to a baby boy!!! Time to do the dougie in her honor lol. It seemed like she'd been carrying for the whole year- just like elephants do- but she was sooooo small. Welp, she finally did it :) Horray!! This will make 2 girls and a boy. I like to think of myself as the "cool" aunt. You know there are tons of people who claim this as their title. I just know I am though. They always want to chill with me and come over- or mabe that's because they don't feel like being bothered with their mothers, hmmm. I've been hoodwinked!! But that's neither here nor there because in my heart, I know I'm the BEST and funniest aunt there have :). Yes! I'm self proclaiming my title. Now here's where I get questionable. I'm not really fond of children when they 1st come out of the whomb. To me they have no definition in their faces and all look the same (alien-ish) but I know I'm wrong for that :( I have to give it a couple of days before I'm on the bandwagon saying  "Awww, they're so freakin crute". But this from the woman who has NO children. I'm gonna learn one day, huh (in my comedian voice- You gonna learn today!!)  I say, Mazol Tov to all the mothers out there and fathers doing their job :). And welcome to the world baby Cameron!!

It's an AMAZING feeling- THANK YOU!!

Gosh, I've been so busy with orders that I haven't had the time to get on here and talk to you guys. Well, I want to say thank you to all who've encouraged me to keep doing what I do. I would have never dreamed I'd be doing what I'm doing now (sewing for others). As I've said in the past, I was a closet sewer- meaning, I only sewed for myself and immediate family. I never wanted people to know that I sewed because I didn't like people asking me to make things for them and the attention it gave me. At this time, I'm still the same way to a point and those close friends of mine know this :). But I'm glad I listened to you all and brought it to the surface.

I'd been a life long Blackberry user and if you have this type of phone, you know you can't enjoy all the perks those with Androids/Iphones get. I'm now apart of the Android bandwagon and recently discovered the life of Instagram. Because of this little social network, I'm networking more than ever and again, I thank those who pressed me about it. I was told to get this and there'd be a broader range of people who'll see my work and you know what, you guys were absolutely right!!! So again, not to sound too redundant (although I am), I thank you all because without you supporting me, wanting me to succeed, hounding me, I couldn't have done this without you!! I truly do like what I do and seeing others happy over the garments I make for them. To be able to transform fabric into something lovely, is a beautiful thing.

To those of you new to me and who've recently discovered me because of the contest and/or Instagram, the Sincere Jones page or just from word of mouth of a recent customer, nice to meet you. I hope you like what you see so far :) As I've always said, Sincere Jones, "It's a Movement"!!

Todays OOTD: Black, White & some Yellow

Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening!! Lol, this is how my mom starts out ALL of her texts/emails. I'm guessing it's because she figures no one will look at it right when it's sent (shrugs). Any who, hopefully everyone's day went well and if it didn't, here's a lil pick me up :). I have such a good memory of what all my clothes look like that I pick them out in my head and pull them in the morning. So for today's outfit I chose this checkered/houndstooth like patterned skirt and paired it with this black button up and bright yellow shirt. I was originally going to wear a pair of black booties with this outfit but my sister liked the ones I have on better, so this is it. I accessorized the look with gold/black and cream jewelry and I was off (off to work that is) :). I'd made this skirt in December, intending on wearing it then but had to re-adjust the zipper. Then, for some odd reason, I didn't feel like wearing skirts towards the end of the month. But fret no more because their back baby!! Here's today's look:

Shoes: similar here
Bracelets: Aldo/H&M
Shirt: NY&Co similar look here
Sweater: Forever 21 similiar look here
Rings: Gifted and Claire's (love rings)

Hope you guys enjoyed the looks!!!

And the winner is..........

Good Morning all! I hope this weekend hasn't been too hectic for you as I suspect some have been on pins and needles wondering about this contest. But at last, it's over!! The winner was picked by one of my co-workers at random from a list of numbers. And just because it's me, I decided to make it even more interesting and have them choose ANOTHER name. Yes, you read correctly, so there are 2 winners in this contest. The winners are..... (drum roll please)

Teeonna Richardson-Jones
and
Saheedah Lambert

I really wanted everyone to win but I can't be making 20 FREE wool sweaters for all of you, no matter how much I wanted to, sorry :(. I would like to think everyone who participated in this contest and now that I've seen the buzz I received from it, I'll definitely be doing it again. Hopefully you guys enjoy the looks you've been seeing on my page and want to remain fans of it (not just for the sake of the contest).

So once again, you ladies have won the following sweater jacket (belt NOT included):

Rock it well and send pics via email or post directly on Sincere Jones' wall!!

Congrats again to the winners!!!

It's a CONTEST people!!!

As you all may or may not know, there's a contest going on and may the best woman or man win!!! I will be giving away a FREE, yes FREE sweater jacket just like the one you've seen me in this week. I tell you, I absolutely love it and have received tons of compliments on it. I was out today buying the fabric for the free one and received nothing but love when I walked in. This sweater is definitely a show stopper, hahaha- or maybe it's just the fabric because now that I think of it, if it were done in another, would it be so lovely?? Hmmm, that's something to ponder... Now I hate to think of the other fabrics I bought to make for myself. Will they get as much buzz as this one? We'll cross that bridge when we get there I guess. But getting back to the contest, one lucky winner will receive this same sweater jacket, in the same print (if they want). I will reveal the winner on Monday, Jan 8th by email.

All you have to do is follow 3 simple and easy steps:

SHARE the pic on the Sincere Jones Facebook page
LIKE the Sincere Jones Facebook page
SUBSCRIBE/FOLLOW to this blog

I will be tracking all those who do this and the winner will be chosen at random (so that it's fair, someone else will be choosing the winner). When sharing the picture on the page, I can't stress this enough, please make sure your setting on the shared picture is set to PUBLIC. If it's not, then I have no way of knowing you actually shared it (since I'm not a friend of yours) and this will hurt your chances. Just a reminder of what you'll be getting:

You may not notice but this gold/mustard colored shirt I'm wearing is actually a dress shown here and here.

You guys are lucky.. I snagged the last of this fabric today and also picked up this blue to make another one of these. Whoo hoo, WINNING!!! Lol, it's meant to be!!

Oh and one last thing, the belt's NOT included. Come on now, I can't give it all to you :). I will post the winner on the page once they're notified. All that I ask from the winner is that they send me a picture of them rocking look. It would be a shame to have someone win this and never see it on them (I like to see my customers in the outfits I've made for them- even if they aren't picture people). Well I don't know about you guys but I'm super excited.

Good Luck!!

New Year.. Same me!!

Welp, it's a new year and we're still here. Did the Mayan's have it all wrong? Was it just a hoax set a long time ago, to have everyone in a panic? If so, it kinda worked hahah. The good thing is that we're still here! The holidays were good to me- hopefully they were good to you too. Now it's back to the grind for most of us. I finally found this shade of lipstick I'd been looking for and have to say, "I LOVE IT!!!" It's so bright and I only seen it on the lighter skinned woman which made me think it would NEVER look good on me.. But for once, I proved myself wrong because I think it looks wonderful. The 1st couple of days of wearing it out, I used just this shade ("Divine" by CoverGirl) and it was a little overwhelming to me but people seemed to like it.

Today, I paired it with this Avon shade, called "Perfect Plum".

I used the Divine shade inside of my lips and the Perfect Plum shade on the outside and this was the result.

At the start of the year I began my quest to make some sweater jackets and they came out beautifully. I'll be making more in the future in EVERY color, fabric, whatever. I caught the "feeva"!! LOL!! I wore the burgundy one yesterday (didn't post) and I'm wearing the blue and white one today. I paired it with a pair of jeans, boots, a tee, vest and hat- I was feeling "grungy" today. I look as if I'm a roadie in a band =^/  (exactly how I wanted to look).  I'm completely in love with these sweater jackets and will be getting more fabric over the weekend to make more. Like I said, when I find
something I like, I make multiples, hahaha. Just in case you missed them, here they are:

Here's today's look:
